Performance Management
Performance Management
Welcome to the UCR Performance Management web site. Since managers and supervisors spend a significant amount of time managing the performance of his or her unit throughout the year, this site has been developed to provide resources, guides, and general information to assist the manager and supervisor in managing performance. Information and guides are also provided for the employee to increase understanding of the performance management process.
Performance management is the ongoing process of linking an individual's performance expectations to the mission and goals of the organization, unit, and department.
This process involves:
- creating a vision;
- identifying outcomes, expectations and goals;
- providing regular, constructive feedback;
- coaching and counseling to reach those expectations;
- reviewing, recognizing and rewarding performance results.
The four major dimensions to the Performance Management process are:
- planning
- coaching and counseling
- evaluating
- recognizing and rewarding
